Every three months and with the change of season the museum organises a tour based on works in its collection which reflect the nature and light of the different seasons, continuing with a visit to the Royal Botanical Garden in Madrid.

For the present season of autumn we will be focusing on paintings with reddish and brown colours representative of this time of year: plants, trees, parks and gardens provide the guiding thread through the galleries, after which the content of the works comes to life in a natural space where an expert botanist explains the burgeoning natural world and the changing landscape at every period of the year. Participants are inspired in the museum then smell and discover all the subtle and different aspects of the natural world in an outdoor setting.

For those unable to attend the in-person tour, an online version on the Second Canvas platform offers the chance to discover the importance of autumn in the landscapes in the museum’s collection.
