Performer and violinist Luz Prado invites listeners to attune themselves to the most minor sonic phenomena within Tarek Atoui’s installation.

On weekends from March to June the Museo Thyssen is offering guided tours of Proust and the Arts, an exhibition that focuses on the importance of art in the work of one of the most influential writers of the 20^th century, recognised in the fields of literature, philosophy and art theory.

Friends can thus enjoy the chance to attend some of the concerts organised by the School, both at its headquarters and at the Auditorio Nacional.

Young Friends will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour led by violinist and composer Pablo Martos, a member of the panel of experts that helps shape the activities of the LabThyssen programme.

The fourth edition of Vision and Presence features ten performative actions over the course of the year which have been expressly created to be seen in the museum.

The museum organizes a series of conversations to pay tribute to the collectors who ensure the continuing renewal of contemporary art and its system. 

Every three months and with the change of season the museum offers a guided tour focused on works in the collection that reflect the natural world and light of that time of year in order to discover how it has influenced painters. The activity continues in the Royal Botanical Garden in Madrid where an expert explains the characteristics of the season in question, showing examples of the plants and flowers that participants have already seen during their visit to the collection.

Coinciding with the exhibition Proust and the Arts, the museum is organising a lecture series that aims to delve into some of the most important aspects of the novel In Search of Lost Time (1913-1927) in terms of its relationship with the arts (painting, literature, music and theatre).

Electronic musician Clara Brea presents a sound intervention that draws on recordings from Tarek Atoui’s concerts—treated as if they were her own field recordings—as the raw material for a new composition closely tied to the themes and context of the exhibition.

In this new edition of Focus on the work Friends of the museum have the opportunity to engage in an intimate and insightful manner with the life and work of the 17^th century Flemish painter Michiel Sweerts.

For the 18^th edition of Travelling with the painting Friends will be visiting the Italian capital in the footsteps of Saint Catherine of Alexandria (ca. 1598-99). The museum is lending this masterpiece by Caravaggio for inclusion in the exhibition Caravaggio 2025 organised by the Galleria Nazionale Barberini Corsini.

With this virtual guided tour you can travel through seven centuries of art history through fifteen masterpieces and delve deeper into our collection. Narrated by our curators, discover the little stories hidden in the paintings at any time and pause the guided tour whenever you want.

Take a closer look at the works in the collection from the point of view of the museum's restorers and you will learn about the treatments carried out on the paintings as well as some of the secrets and curiosities hidden in a selection of our Masterpieces.

Every year the Focus on the Collection programme offers Friends a guided tour of the Permanent Collection with the aim of offering detailed explanations of its contents. On this occasion the activity focuses on life at home as represented in paintings in the collection and invites participants to discover the way in which the spaces we call home have shaped our lives over the course of history.

Friends will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition of works by Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock, two key 20th century artists.
