Between 2017 and 2023 the German filmmaker Rudij Bergmann accompanied the artist André Butzer on numerous occasions, documenting his solo exhibitions in Berlin, Madrid, New York, Los Angeles and Paris and spending time with him in his studio and on walks in the mountains.

The result is a 137-minute documentary which will be premiered at the museum, followed by a discussion between Bergmann, its director, its producer Clara Freund and the museum’s artistic director Guillermo Solana. An intricate testimony to Butzer’s artistic vision, Bergmann’s work features contributions from collectors, gallerists, friends and family members, offering an impressive vision of the artist’s thinking and pictorial practice while bringing him to life as a person.
