Concert: Music in the time of Zurbarán
Friends of the Museum had the exclusive opportunity to enjoy a concert intended to provide a colophon to the exhibition Zurbarán: A new Viewpoint, allowing allow them to travel back in time to the Spanish Golden Age in terms of music. The programme linked together the harmonies that were to be heard at the time, as well as music written by some of the great composers of the day, including both sacred music such as motets and secular works including carols. The latter were often based on dance music, which played a key role at this period. This selection of works from the time of Zurbarán were been performed by La Capilla Renacentista, a vocal chamber group specialising in Renaissance and Baroque music.
