A home is much more than the place where we live. It is the reflection of the people who live in it and the society we belong to. It is a witness to the changes we have experienced over time, from our relationships to the way we understand the public and private realms and our personal lives. It also shows how design and technology have evolved to adapt to the needs of a population in constant transformation.

Every year the Focus on the Collection programme offers Friends a guided tour of the Permanent Collection with the aim of offering detailed explanations of its contents. On this occasion the activity focuses on life at home as represented in paintings in the collection and invites participants to discover the way in which the spaces we call home have shaped our lives over the course of history. This is because in every corner of a house and in the artistic manifestations that surround us we find stories which tell us about that profound connection between the way homes are designed and the changing rhythm of the world we live in.

There is also a virtual, real-time version of the tour available on the Second Canvas platform. Its ultra-high resolution allows participants to appreciate the works with an extraordinary level of detail.
