The latest edition of the programme “Focus on the Work” programme offers Friends the chance to delve deeper into Family Group in a Landscape (1645-48) by Frans Hals, one of the few portraits of a family group painted by the artist during the course of his career.

In an activity led by Dolores Delgado, curator of Old Master Painting at the museum, participants will delve into the history of this imposing canvas, from its technical aspects to the latest research on the identity of the family portrayed. Hals’s painting is also placed in the context of works on the same subject in museums such as the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio, and the National Gallery, London.
