The latest edition of Focus on the Work will introduce Friends to Man with a Clarinet (1911-1912) by Pablo Picasso.

Led by Paloma Alarcó, chief curator of Modern Painting at the museum, this activity will aim to present an iconic work of the historic European avant-garde through an analysis of the visual revolution represented by Cubism and of the new way of looking at and interpreting form and space introduced by Picasso and Georges Braque.

In the gallery displaying the work Paloma Alarcó will also refer to other figures who contributed to the dissemination of the Cubist movement and who were at different times owners of the painting: the gallerist Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, the collector Wilhelm Uhde and the art historian Douglas Cooper.
