On Saturdays, Sundays and some public holidays from March to June, the museum will be offering guided tours of the first retrospective it is devoting to a Spanish woman artist, Isabel Quintanilla (1938-2017), one of the key figures in contemporary realist painting.

The exhibition brings together 90 works spanning her entire career, including her most important paintings and drawings. Many of them have never previously been seen in Spain as they belong to museums and private collections in Germany where Quintanilla enjoyed great success and renown in the 1970s and 1980s. With the collaboration of the Comunidad de Madrid, the exhibition will present a survey of the painter’s world, which centred on her personal objects and the intimate, private spaces of her different homes and studios. These places and everyday items also, however, belong to the collective imagination and as such speak directly to the viewer’s emotions, an intention that Quintanilla constantly had in mind.

The tours are aimed at the general public aged over 12. Tickets are available from the museum’s ticket desks and on its website, with a supplement of 9 Euros on the price of an entry ticket.
