Nowhere Near is the culmination of several years of filming, editing, travel and reflection, during which acclaimed experimental filmmaker Miko Revereza created a profound and personal portrait of immigration, disillusionment and the elusiveness of home. Born in Manila, Revereza lived in the United States as an illegal immigrant, an experience that has undoubtedly influenced his work. In Nowhere Near he returns to the Philippines to confront a "family curse" and the legacy of imperialism.

The film was included in the Marché du Film de Cannes Docs Showcase and received funding from Purin Pictures, the Assembly Grant of the Open City Documentary Festival, and the Hubert Bals Fund Bright Future Award of the Rotterdam International Film Festival. In 2021, Miko Revereza won the Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Film and his short films have appeared in the Criterion Collection.
