In parallel to the exhibition Heroines, the Museum is organising a monographic course led by Rocíó de la Villa, professor of Aesthetics and Art Theory at the Universidad Autónoma, Madrid. Organised into 8 sessions given by different experts, it will focus on the depiction of women in active roles in western art. Amazons, maenads, nymphs and bacchantes are some of the models selected to locate these roles in the cultural, literary and social context.
