The female portrait is the topic chosen for a new capsule course aimed at the general public, available both in-person and online.

Learning about the history of women of different periods, origins and nationalities, discovering the perspective of the artists who portrayed them, focusing on the different models and typologies of portraits and accessing the messages, secrets and curious details concealed within these paintings - some of them masterpieces of the museum’s collection - are among the aspects addressed over the three sessions of this course, which aims to offer an in-depth focus on one of the principal genres in the history of Western art.

Led by Professor María Martín, the course can be followed in-person in the museum's Auditorium or online on the Microsoft Teams platform (online participants will be sent login details and documentation by email).
