The Thyssen on the Street. 1924. Other Surrealisms at Fundación Mapfre

The new edition of The Thyssen on the Street offers Friends the chance to focus on one of the most important avant-garde movements of the 20^th century with a private guided tour of 1924. Other Surrealisms, an exhibition organised by Fundación Mapfre to mark the centenary of the publication in 1924 of the First Surrealist Manifesto by André Breton. 

Curated by Estrella de Diego, the exhibition explores Surrealism through works by internationally renowned artists such as Dalí, Buñuel and Miró as well as the movement’s numerous followers in Spain, who pursued a different direction to the canon imposed by Breton from Paris, with an emphasis on the contribution of women creators such as Maruja Mallo, Remedios Varo and Grete Stern.
