Luther and the Reformation
On occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, the thematic route Luther and the Reformation offers a selection of works from the permanent collection that best illustrate the most important milestones of this movement.
The creation of this route has been made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Spain and the Goethe Foundation, who with their invaluable support are helping to promote one of the most important German art collections outside Germany. Another highlight of the close cooperation between the Embassy and the museum was the restoration of the painting Hercules at the Court of Omphale in 2013/14 by Hans Cranach, who worked in the workshop critical to the spread of the Protestant religion.
