Analogies. Abstract Music and Painting. An audio and visual tour around the exhibition Monet and Abstraction
The Museum offered a new activity in its Analogies programme, on this occasion organised in collaboration with the Auditorio Nacional de Música. It took the innovative form of a tour-concert based on the theme of artistic abstraction. The two related themes will be the current temporary exhibition, Monet and Abstraction, and the music of the Greek composer Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001), whose work was the subject of a monographic, day-long course at the Auditorio Nacional on 23 April. Some of the paintings on display in the exhibition were analysed and compared to passages of music that will be performed live in the galleries by David Apellániz (cello), Francisco A. García (clarinet), and Miquel Bernat (percussion). The visit will be jointly led by the conductor Nacho de Paz and Javier Arnaldo, Head of the Museum’s Department of Research and Further Studies.
