Lecture Series Van Gogh
Lecture
- 12, 19 and 27 June 2007
To coincide with the exhibition Van Gogh. The Last Landscapes, Guillermo Solana, the Chief Curator of the Museum and the curator of the exhibition, was given a series of three lectures on the life and work of this Dutch artist. The first offered an account of Van Gogh's early interest in art and his initial training, from his early attempts as a draughtsman to his encounter with Impressionism. The second lecture looked at the development of a more individual style on the artist's part during his lengthy stay in Provence (1888-1890). The third and final lecture focused on the brief but dazzling period that is the subject of the present exhibition at the Museum, namely the two final months that Van Gogh spent in Auvers-sur-Oise.
