Turner. Light is colour: online visit to the exhibition at the MNAC

Through an online guided tour, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya is inviting Friends of the museum to discover its new exhibition devoted to the English painter, watercolourist and printmaker Joseph Mallord William Turner, entitled Turner. Light is colour.

Acknowledged as the greatest Romantic landscape painter due to his mastery of light, colour and atmosphere, Turner represented the intensity of the forces of nature, already threatened at that date by the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. Through around 100 paintings, drawings and prints, the exhibition explores the artist’s fascination with meteorological phenomena and follows the creative process behind his compositions, from his initial studies to the final work.
