Waterloo Bridge (1906) by André Derain is the subject of a new edition in the “Focus on the work” programme, which offers Friends the chance to deepen their knowledge of the collection through a talk given by an expert. This is also a special occasion as the painting will be restored through a crowdfunding campaign to be launched in September.

Clara Marcellán, the museum’s curator of modern painting, will be explaining Derain’s pointillist technique and his use of pure colours, locating the work in its context through comparisons with other artists such as Vlaminck and Matisse.
