Picasso Study Days

To mark the 50^th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso, Picasso Celebration 1973-2023 has generated an extensive international programme of exhibitions and academic projects with the aim of presenting the most recent research into the work of the 20^th century’s most important and universally known artist. These events include the exhibition Picasso: the sacred and the profane.

In order to approach the themes covered by the exhibition from different angles the museum is inviting a diverse group of specialists who, over the course of two days, will analyse the artist’s interest in the Old Masters, his role as intercessor between past and present, peoples and civilisations, and his capacity to influence the course of history through a body of subject matter in which there is barely any distinction between the sacred and the profane.
