Big Boy is a coming-of-age story about a boy and his family on the island of Mindoro (Philippines) in the 1950s and how the family place all their hopes and expectations on their son as the future of their business. The film is an experimental portrait of a family engaged in a process of change, an experience which involves the audience in a film experience that is simultaneously strange and familiar.

This is the first feature film by Shireen Seno, born in Tokyo in 1983 to a Filipino family. Seno studied architecture and film at the University of Toronto and his photographic and videographic work has been exhibited by several galleries. Big Boy earned Seno the prize for Best First Feature at the Lima Independent Film Festival in 2013.
