Thyssen on signs
As part of its "A bank for everyone" program and their inclusive strategy for people regardless of their abilities or age, the institution began collaborating with the museum in 2024 to expand the glossary for deaf individuals with 250 new terms.
The collaboration's objective is to enable a close and shared language approach with the art world. This will be achieved by working with a linguistic team and in coordination with the CDF (Confederation of Deaf People), who will determine the most appropriate signs for the yet non-existing terms to be created.
At the end of the process, the visual materials will be made available on platforms to facilitate content dissemination. On one hand, 250 micro-videos will be produced (one per term) and included in the DSLS (Dictionary of Spanish Sign Language). This tool currently comprises 3,500 terms, so our contribution will significantly enrich its content for users. Additionally, to enhance accessibility, everything will be included in our signoguide and the museum's official channel.
