Colonial Memory in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections

We invite you to discover the exhibition Colonial Memory in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections, an exhibition dedicated to the role of museums and the works they house in the legitimisation of the Eurocentric narrative.

Through a selection of works from the museum's historical collections, as well as contemporary pieces from the TBA21 collection, the exhibition highlights the consequences of colonialism that began in the 16^th century and its presence in Western iconography through idyllic and exoticising images that mask colonial inequality and violence.
