Films by Women festival: Sleeping with a Tiger, screening and colloquium
In this original hybrid film, which combines fiction and documentary, Salomonowitz recounts the professional struggle of the Austrian artist Maria Lassnig to make her way in an art world dominated by men and her search for her own form of artistic expression, leading to her ultimate success. The film has been selected this year for the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) and the festivals in Cartagena de Indias and Vancouver. Devoted to an important creator within its Focus Austria 2024 programme, this session of “Films by Women” features a presentation by the Museo Thyssen’s managing director Evelio Acevedo. After the screening the film’s director, Anja Salomonowitz, and the festival's co-director, Diego Mas Trelles, will be participating in a discussion on the film.
